    • Have attained the academic rank of high school “senior”
    •  Are a current Ohio 4-H member
    • Have not previously received the award

  • NEW Component: Interviews will be conducted during June 24th Judging
  • Due Date: April 22, 2024 by 4:30 pm
  • Winners are recognized at the 4-H Awards Recepetion at the Fayette County Fair

County Scholarships

Chuckwagon, Rob Herron, Chip Bumpus, and Catherine Jean Brown Scholarships

  • Requirements:
    • Have attained the academic rank of high school “senior”
    •  Are a current Ohio 4-H member
    • Have not previously received the award
    • Will be pursuing post-secondary education (any college/university with any major)
  • Application: Fayette County 4-H Scholarship Form
  • Due Date: April 22, 2024 by 4:30 pm
  • Amount: Scholarships provided vary based on available resources

Fayette County Farm Bureau/Frank B Sollars Memorial Scholarships

In 2023, Fayette County Farm Bureau, in partnership with the Frank B. Sollars Memorial
Scholarship will be offering two separate scholarships. Students will use one scholarship
application to apply for both scholarships being offered.

  • Frank B. Sollars Scholarship: $2,000 
  • Fayette County Farm Bureau Scholarship: $500
Instructions
  • Application is to be completed by the applicant.
  • Answer questions completely. You may use extra pages where necessary.
  • Include a copy of the applicant’s transcript.
  • Each application will be reviewed to receive one or both scholarships.
  • Frank B. Sollars Memorial Scholarship winner must be an agricultural major.

State Scholarships

Ohio Township Association 4-H Local Government Award

  • Requirements:
    • Have attained the academic rank of high school "senior"
    • Have completed a 4-H local government activity
    • Have a permanent residence in Ohio at the time they participate in the government activity
    • Have not previously won an OTA 4-H local government award
    • Plan to attend a college or university
  • Application: Ohio 4-H Achievement Record
  • Due Date: January 18, 2024
  • Amount: $1500

Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships

The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation has multiple scholarships available to Ohio students from rural, suburban and urban communities who are pursuing degrees with a connection to the agricultural industry.

Through 14 scholarship funds, nearly 50 awards will be made to deserving students. The deadline to apply online at ofbf.org/foundation/scholarships is March 31.

State Boards

Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council (TLC) - A statewide group of 4-H teens and young 4-H alumni that provides a youth stakeholder perspective in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Ohio 4-H programming.

  • 4 involvement levels (council member, committee member, committee chair, officer)
  • 4-8 Meetings/year based on involvement level
  • Applications for 2024-2025 will be avaliable in summer 2024
  • Must be 14-18 as of January 1
  • Advisor applicants must be 18-20 as of January 1

Ohio 4-H Event Youth Assistant (4HEYA) - The Ohio 4-H Event Youth Assistants (4HEYA) are a statewide group of 4-H teens that assist with Ohio State Fair events.

  • 4-H Members ages 13-18
  • Work at least 3 events at the Ohio State Fair
  • Attend one training at the Ohio State Fairgrounds
  • Term: June 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024
  • Applications Due May 15

Ohio 4-H Fashion Board - Youth involved in textiles and clothing projects assist with conducting the State Fair 4-H Fashion Review, 4-H clothing workshop sessions, and promotion 4-H clothing projects and programs.

  • Complete State Fashion Board application (found in the State Fair 4-H Non-Livestock Guidebook)
  • Up to 20 applicants selected across the state, nominated by county (1 per county)
  • Due:  at the time of registration the day the applicant competes in the State Fashion Revue at the Ohio State Fair
  • 1-year term - Meets 4-5 times throughout the year

Ohio State Junior Fair Board - Members help strengthen and coordinate State Fair activities at the Ohio State Fair. State JFB members are expected to attend meetings and stay at the state fair for the entire 12 days. Comprised of outstanding individuals from each of the youth organizations represented at the Ohio State Fair, this group helps coordinate State Fair activities.

  • Complete the application between February 1- March 1. 
  • Must be at least 16 years old (as of January 1) and current 4-H member
  • applicants selected yearly
  • 2-year term

State Opportunities

Ohio 4-H Conference - This day-long conference provides teens with educational sessions pertaining to 4-H projects, 4-H opportunities, leadership development and current events.

Buckeye Leadership Workshop - A great camp for people ages 14-91.  This powerful sharing 'workshop' is for anyone who works with people and/or develops programming for youth or adults. 

  • Complete 'BLW registration' form
  • Participants must be at least 14 years old on the first day of the workshop, and at least a freshman in high school, to attend BLW.
  • Scholarships available, apply when filling out registation
  • April 3-7, 2024 at Recreation Unlimited, Ashley, OH
  • Registration due:  February 22, 2024

Ohio Youth Capital Challenge - Youth from across the state learn how to make their voices heard in government and make a difference.

Carving New Ideas Workshop (CNI) - A statewide camping opportunity that focuses on critical thinking and program facilitation for 4-H members in grades 8-12. Held at 4-H Camp Ohio, campers develop their leadership skills while making new friends in workshops hosted by Collegiate 4-H and The Ohio State University.

These awards recognize 4-H member's achievements in a specific area. Areas: Beef, CARTEENS, Citizenship & Community Service, Clothing & Textiles, Companion Animals, Dairy, Dairy Goat, Environmental Sciences, Family Life & Child Development, Foods & Nutrition, Gardening & Horticulture, Health & Safety, Horse, Leadership, Meat Goat, Mechanical Engineering Sciences, Personal Development, Photography, Poultry, Rabbits, Sheep, Shooting Sports, Swine, Woodworking and Veterinary Science

  • Complete the 2024 Achievement Form
  • Must be 14 years old (as of January 1) and a current 4-H member
  • Due:  January 18, 2024 to Fayette County Extension Office
  • Winners receive a paid trip to National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia in November

AWARD TRIPS 

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) - Through sightseeing tours of Washington D.C. and hands-on educational workshops, you will learn about the history of our nation, the leaders who shaped it and how you can apply the leadership and citizenship skills. Meet 4-Hers from all over the United States!

  • Complete the 2024 Achievement Form
  • Must be 14 years old (as of January 1) and a current 4-H member
  • June 15-22, 2024 or June 20-27, 2024 in Washington D.C.

Leadership Washington Focus (LWF) - CANCELED FOR 2024 - Using the historical backdrop of Washington D.C., you will build confidence in your ability to motivate and direct others in meaningful action, practice effective communication, create and accomplish goals and develop an understanding of your own personal leadership style. (similar to CWF, for younger participants)

  • Complete the 2024 Achievement Form
  • Must be in grades 7th-9th and current 4-H member
  • July 27-31 at the National 4-H Center, Chevy Chase, MD

National 4-H Dairy Conference - Event provides delegates with an opportunity to learn more about the dairy industry, observe new dairy industry developments and be recognized for their achievements in the area of dairy cows

  • Complete the 2024 Achievement Form
  • Must be at least 14 years old (as of January 1) and current 4-H member
  • Conference held October 1-5, 2024 (tentative)
  • Madison, Wisconsin
  • Due: January 18, 2024

Camp Canopy (Forestry Camp) - Learn first-hand about Ohio's forest and natural resources.  Explore the outdoors - tree ID, silviculture, ecology and forest projects

  • Held 9-14, 2024 at FFA Camp, Muskingum, Carroll County
  • Due: January 18, 2024

Ohio 4-H Leadership Camp - The premiere leadership development opportunity available to Ohio 4-H members. Develop concrete peer leadership skills that will enable you to have an immediate impact in your home 4-H club, county, community or school
