To: Potential Participants of the Southwest Ohio Corn Growers Yield Trials

2024 Electronic Entry Form

The SOCGA would like to formally invite you to participate in our annual corn and soybean yield comparison plots and field day. To better serve producers, the corn and soybean testing locations will be in Southwest Ohio. Plots will be planted in blind-labeled, small plots with random replications at each location. At harvest, data will be collected and averaged at each location and placed in a user-friendly booklet.

Entry requirements are listed below. Results from previous Corn and Soybean Yield Trials can be found at https://go.osu.edu/socga-plot-results.

Corn Entry Rules:

  1. All genetic traits are welcome. All varieties are to be legal for international export.
  2. Hybrids will be divided by maturity into an early or late category depending on the number of entries.
  3. The entry fee will be waved due to the lateness of results in 2023.
  4. Each hybrid entered will be planted at all locations.
  5. You can designate 1 of the hybrids to be planted in the show plot exhibit for the Annual SOCGA Field Day (August 13, 2024).
  6. Please send 5 lbs. of seed per hybrid entered with the hybrid number, maturity length, and which hybrid is to be used for the Show Plot.

Soybean Entry Rules:

  1. All varieties must contain at least Round-up Ready and Liberty Link Soybean traits to enter.
  2. Varieties will be divided by maturity into an early or late category depending on the number of entries.
  3. The entry fee will be waved due to the lateness of results in 2023.
  4. Each variety will be planted at all five locations.
  5. You can designate 1 of the varieties to be planted in the show plot exhibit for the Annual SOCGA Field Day (August 13, 2024).
  6.  Please send 5 lbs. of seed per variety entered with the variety number, maturity length, and which variety is to be used for the Show Plot.
  7. Please identify what seed treatments have been used.

All Entries:

  1. You must also provide a double-faced identification sign for the Show Plot by August 1, 2024.
  2. DELIVER OR SEND SEED BY NO LATER THAN April 1st TO:

    NOTE: Please send seed as you can, rather than waiting to send all entries at one time.

To complete your company’s entries into the SOCGA Variety Trials please complete the attached entry forms for the corn hybrids and soybean varieties. The attached entry forms can be emailed ahead of the April 1st delivery date to Ken Ford at ford.70@osu.edu or mailed to the seed delivery address which is included on the entry form. An electronic version of this entry form can be found at https://go.osu.edu/socga-varietytrials.

The Southwest Ohio Corn Growers Association would also invite you to participate in our Annual Field Day on August 13, 2024, at the Fayette County Demonstration Farm, 2770 Old Route 38 NW, Washington Court House. The corn and soybean show plots will be planted at this location. The SOCGA along with the Ohio State University Extension will offer educational programs from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. As part of the field day activities, two gift certificates will be awarded to a SOCGA member for $500 each. The two Ohio Corn Grower Association members to be selected will receive a gift certificate valued at $500, for a one-time purchase of goods or services with any participating company. The SOCGA will be covering this certificate when redeemed with a participating company. All companies that enter these variety trials will be included unless we are notified prior to the field day. There is no additional fee to participate in this award program.
